Sweet Nothings Firetruck Sweets Table

We designed this Firetruck-themed sweets table for Kristin of Hampton Paper Design.  Her son Jackson had a fabulous 4th birthday party and it's been making waves in the blogosphere.  Thanks to all the bloggers below who featured Sweet Nothings candy table.  Oh, and my husband Curtis.

The REAL fireman.

Sneak Peek: Firetruck Sweets Table

Remember THIS post??

Well, the big reveal is right around the corner!  This weekend Sweet Nothings will be debuting our Firetruck Sweets Table with the help of the ever-so-fabulous Hampton Paper Designs!  Kristin, owner of HPD, is throwing a Firetruck party for her son Jackson's 4th birthday.

Kristin asked me to come up with a fire-themed design and incorporate candies that coordinated with the HPD firetruck and helmet invitations.  When creating any sweets table, a backdrop is A MUST!  After settling on various red, yellow and black candies I was able to select vessels that would best showcase the candies and keep with the firehouse feel.  I created an inspiration board for Kristin so she could design exclusive Hampton Paper Design labels for each of the vessels.

Look for the pictures on our blog next week to see how it all turned out!!

If you are throwing a party in the near future and would like me to create a custom inspiration board for you, please contact me.  Inspiration boards will include a custom design, table layout, candy selections, vessels and where to go for all of your sweet materials!

Made By Me: Fish-Themed Baby Shower Cookies

Remember THIS post?  I couldn't wait to finish these cookies!!

Well....here they are!!

I recently had the pleasure of making custom cookie favors for a fish-themed baby shower for twin boys.  I had so much fun creating these cookies and I just love how they turned out.

I used royal icing for the base of the cookies.  Here I am flooding the icing onto the cookies.  The coloring was perfect.

When the flooding technique is used to decorate cookies, you will want to wait at least 24 hours before you cover the cookies, in order to let the icing fully dry.  The icing acts as a sealant on the cookie, so don't worry too much about the cookie drying out because it is uncovered for that extended period of time.

I used Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Grahams for the fish on the cookie.  I dipped them in Orange Candy Melts and used a bit of orange royal icing to secure them to cookie.  I piped bubbles with white royal icing.  It was the perfect touch to bring the two fish together.

My own fish Lou, short for Lieutenant, was so supportive of the theme!

Each cookie was individually bagged in a cellophane bag, tied off with a double-faced orange satin ribbon and a personalized tag thanking the guests for attending.

Happy Birthday Brady!!

My oldest nephew is turns 5 today!!  What a milestone for him.  I can't believe it's been 5 years since he graced our family as the first grandchild.  I love that little boy to death.

I came across this Superhero themed Sweets Table and it immediately made me think of him.  This is one of the best Sweets Tables for boys that I've seen.  Great colors, simple taste and very much fitting for that little birthday boy.

Happy Birthday Bubby.  I love you.

A "Curious George" Inspired Birthday Party

A friend who is very near and dear to my heart is about to have one of the most amazing gifts life can give bestowed upon him.  He and his wife are about to welcome their first child into their home any day now.  This good friend of mine is also a Curious George fanatic and has already put in a request with me for a Curious George Sweets Table a year in advance.  I came across this Curious George themed table and it brought a smile to my face.  So many cute ideas, great use of colors and I absolutely love how the table isn't overwhelming - just the right amount of baked goods and candies for a 1st birthday party.

I can't wait to welcome the new addition!
